Why can't I choose
my child's coach or team?
Unfortunately, when coaches, players and/or parents start choosing up
whole teams, the teams can become unbalanced--which isn't much fun and
defeats the purpose of our modified recreational program. Please keep
in mind that your child will be placed on a team with players who may
be from their school or area. Additionally, one of the benefits of
recreational soccer is making new friends, experiencing new coaches
and new techniques. Therefore, OYSL does not accept special requests
for player placement on a team or with a specific coach. |
 | What is
included in the registration fee?
Every player receives a full uniform for the team they are placed on.
Full uniform includes jersey, shorts and soccer socks. Additionally,
registration fees help defer the costs of insurance, referees, end of
season trophies, plaques and other costs of league maintenance. |
 | When can
I register for your next season?
Actual dates for end of registration are usually available on the
Calendar page. |
 | How long is your season?
Our season begins with team assignments and practices, usually in
early October, with the first official game occurring the first
weekend in November and ends in mid-February with breaks for the
Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The regular season is 10 games
with an additional week for play-offs for the the U-8 and above
divisions. |
 |
We registered but can’t finish the rest of the season. Can we get a
refund?
We regret that we are unable to give refunds, due fixed costs of
uniforms and other costs associated with the soccer league. |
 | What ages must
a child be to play?
Generally a child must be 4 before August 31st of the current
year. However, please check our
Age Divisions to verify your child's division and eligibility to
play. |
 | What is the
“U” in the age groupings?
The “U” stands for “under,” as in “under the specified age.” For
example, the U8 division is open to boys and girls under the age of 8.
|
 |
I have two children who will be in the same age division; will they be
on the same team?
Unless a parent requests differently, siblings who are in the
same age division are placed on the same team. |
 |
Are
girls allowed to play?
Yes, girls are encouraged to play. Typically 1/3 of our
participants are girls |
